October 2, 2018

The Industrial Environmental Association (IEA) of Southern California has recognized EDCO with an Environmental Excellence Award for the Escondido Resource Recovery facility. The award was presented on September 27, 2018 at the 34th Annual Environmental Training and Symposium and Conference held at the San Diego Convention Center.

As part of a Master Facility Plan, the Escondido Resource Recovery Facility recently opened a state-of-the-art commingled recycling facility that features seven optic sorters and a number of technological advancements designed to improve material quality and efficiency. “We are honored by this award and see this as continued validation of our efforts to further develop diversion infrastructure in the region,” said Steve South, President & CEO of EDCO.

Goodwill San Diego nominated EDCO for the prestigious IEA award, recognizing both the facility and their long-standing relationship working together to divert textiles from our landfills and use of Goodwill unattended donation centers to collect donations.  “Goodwill San Diego is pleased to recognize EDCO for continuing to advance recycling and collaborating with us on the collection of reusable products,” said Toni Giffin, President and CEO of Goodwill Industries of San Diego County.

The IEA is a non-profit organization that serves the region’s manufacturing companies and facilitates environmental compliance for its member companies through education and training. Established in 1983, the IEA is an influential representative of the manufacturing industry and its members are recognized as thoughtful leaders in regulatory compliance, as well as environmental health and safety experts.
